- City of Rocks Rally with the Idaho WBCCI Unit, September 20-24, 2018
City of Rocks, near Almo, Idaho
What an opportunity for travel to beautiful Idaho! The Idaho unit has invited us to a joint rally. Start making plans now to attend the first Idaho-UWAC joint rally at the City of Rocks! We will stay near the little town of Almo, in the Smoky Mountain Campground, at the east entrance to the City of Rocks National Reserve. This is a State of Idaho campground with water, electricity, bathrooms with showers, and a dump station. We plan to tour the Albion Normal School, and to leave time for those who wish to visit the nearby town of Oakley which has been designated a National Historic District. We will, of course, tour the City of Rocks National Reserve. There will be a short nature walk with a ranger, as well as a longer walk for those who wish to see more. We will have a chance to get a closer look at the rock formations as well as an explanation of the surrounding area by the ranger. In addition to the beautiful scenery, the California Trail passed thru here. There is a lot of history!
September is one the busiest months at the City of Rocks. The campground fills up early. We have made some reservations, but want to get a count of attendees as early as possible in case we need to reserve more campsites. Sign up early to make sure there is space for you. You are invited to arrive for this rally weekend on Thursday, 9/20. (You’re still welcome if you can’t get there until Friday…) Our reservations end on Sunday, 9/23. If you want to spend Sunday night at the campground, show your departure date on the coupon as Monday 9/24. We will provide you with your campsite number so that you can make your own reservation for Sunday night.
If you have any questions, please contact Mim Davidson at 208-859-2921.
